The way we see it, we're helping solve a difficult problem, and there are three scenarios that make it complex.
As a teacher, you're expected to do the impossible - teach an extensive curriculum in a short school year to a diverse group of students, each with different skills, aptitudes, and backgrounds. All this while wearing multiple hats - discipliner, mediator, administrator, and sometimes, parent.
At TenMarks, we want to do everything we can to help teachers spend more time teaching, and less time doing everything else. Our products help teachers deliver better student results, while saving them hours each week, which can be used to teach and mentor their students.
Students today have different expectations than previous generations. They expect their songs to be in a playlist, which is personalized. They expect to be able to watch a TV show or movie on demand, and pause/rewind as they'd like - instantly.
At TenMarks, we design our products to map to these expectations. Students have instant access whenever, wherever, and however they want...to a valuable and engaging learning environment that delivers measurable results. Students aren't taught; they learn on-demand when they get stuck, when THEY realize they could use some help. And the help is a hint, or a short video lesson - their way, their time. Points, badges, certificates, and games - unlocking as they learn more - motivate them.
Parents are not always available or able to help their kids with math, but they can help reinforce its importance. Often, we don't realize what our child needs until it's too late to have an impact.
We have integrated parent communication and information sharing as core to our offerings. Parents know what their child has worked on, how they did, and where they need help or enrichment. And they know that immediately, not 6 weeks after the topic was covered, in class or elsewhere.
